It's been a year since I've seen Virginia

Been a year now on my own

Lord how I miss Virginia

I feel an ache down in my bones

Guess I never really understood

What I had till it was gone for good

I smell the sweet perfume of Virginia

Country comfort in a calico dress

She was always so together

She gave me shelter, gave me wine

I'm headed back to Virginia
