The Soldier's Song

Everyone is a skeptic till they see or feel something they cannot deny

And they call this man the Christ.

Now he faces death and so it's said

"He's a liar and a lunatic"

but I can't get past the love in this man's eyes.



With every nail I drove into his flesh

(He took them willingly)

I can't get past the tears that this man shed

(This man shed tears for me)

I stand alone as I watch him die

(I saw him bleeding)

I drove the nails I was the one who pierced his side

(I saw him dying there for me)

Now I know that truly this was the Son of God



And

(I drove the nails in I tore the flesh of Christ)

When

(I saw his head drop and I believed the lies)

He

(I saw compassion burning like a flame)

Died

(And it was calling out my name)



The earth began to shake

And the sky began to burn

And you can't look past a man whose death tears apart the earth.

Of all the things I heard You said

and all the things I heard You did

It didn't mean a thing until I saw You bled.

Your Scars condemn me

Your Hope renews me

Your Death redeems me

Your Love surrounds me

But I can't close

With these hands I crucified

Truly this was the Son of God
