Step Outside

A conversation with myself
Remarkable reflections show themselves to me
As I find myself consumed by thoughts that hold me
Witness to a one-sided tug-of-war
And I promised to…I need to stop
But I'm mesmerized…I can't step outside
I'm caught in the mirror

Hypnotized by colored images
Spinning, turning, rolling in my head
I can't see through this drifting cloud of smoke
Unable to discern fact from fiction
I must find a way
So I close my eyes and step outside to see what's real

As I step outside I hear the voice that told me
Just what it was I first came out here for
