I Am Getting Well

The sun comes up,
but I don't feel it on my face.
The leaves start falling
but the seasons never change
and my brother says come out
but I just stay away.
And indulge in the loneliness
to avoid all the pain.

Now it's dark when it's light
and the spark in my eyes
burning low I should call up my friends.
I've been trying my best
to get our of this bed,
but I think there's something wrong
with my head.

Oh I break everything that is good
'cause I cannot see the good inside.
And trust me if I could I would
change the chemicals inside my mind.

But it's a long long way
up that hill
past all the dead grass
and the thoughts that could kill
It's a long long way up from hell
But I, I am getting well.

My father calls me up and asks me how I am.
He says that he'll stop by
if I ever need a hand and I
take that call but I don't talk for very long
I always hang up first
and tell him please don't worry mum

'Cause it's dark when it's light
and it's hard but I'll try
to be better than I was back then.
And I'll run out of breath
'til I'm out of this mess.
God knows I'm trying my best.
