Could someone hit me in the face
I′ve seen so many happy days of laughter
Don't know what to cry aboutWhat to sing out loud

Because happy songs don′t make you cry
Don't make you want to curl up and die
Or sigh with sympathy
Which probably means they're meaningless
Maybe it′s best not to sing at all

I have no man who beats me repeatedly
I have no painful childhood memories
I′m not on drugs
I've not been raped or murdered seven times
I feel just fine

Maybe if I speak in metaphors that don′t make sense
The cat will open up the door for me instead
And you will believe it's art
And scratch your chin
