Sitting in isolation

I worked hard to achieve

Formerly driven and motivated

How did I become a necessary evil

Staring at a glowing screen

Now, everything I do is mind numbing

I have no desire to aspire

How can I move mountains

When it′s hard to lift a finger

I miss the days when we talked it out

With different points of view

Now you can't even tell a joke

To live in uninspired times

This world is like a movie set

Filled with robots who can pirouette

Programmed to be downtrodden

In a world soon forgotten

Until then it's Lights, Camera, Action

Followed by knee-jerk reactions...

To arbitrary deadlines

Those vague dystopian time crimes

With participation trophies

For those with the worst neuroses

I'm a winner I can prove it

I got a ribbon for my smile

I got a trophy for participation

I got a medal for walking a mile

No one is a loser

As long as we follow the commands

Outlined by some god

At the dawn of man

Defamation nation

Celebrities on trial

Reality and truth are getting a divorce

Facts are in denial

What happened to meeting eye-to-eye

Golfing at the strip club

Happy hours with the team

Modern optics, there′s the rub.

I live in a cornucopia

Of Neo-Suburban absurdia

With soccer moms who drink all day

Of whom there are a plethora

We used to go to shopping malls

With unfettered glee and dollar bills

Now we barricade the doors

And overdose on Fentanyl

Uninspired to find passion

Discouraged to find truth

I′ve lost my faith in knowledge

Misinformed since my youth

Words don't mean a thing

What is my truth today?

No time to think about

The widespread, misinformed decay

Maybe someday i′ll fall in love

With a handsome avatar
