Hip Hop's Daughter

No talk, no, I have much to say

This is a story that I am tired of keeping in silence

The karmic wheel of life today gives me the chanceAnd now with love and certainty I will talk

At eight years old I started singing

Great-grandma left me the writing ability

First rhymes came at 10 testing my capacity

And the love for dance since eleven with tenacity

1985 I watched the movie breakdance

At seven I saw Turbo dancing in trance

With Bruce Lee movies in my mind as a child

I received what will influence my whole life

1991 second encounter with Hip Hop

I saw Boston Phase II Crew dancing at school

Obsessed to learn and after begging

Gigo gives me my first Queen Latifah cassette

After I was dedicated to practice

In the living room with my sister Denis

Opening the space with loud music

Creating choreographies became our ceremony

At the neighborhoods events and community centers

With my women we did amazing things I remember

Another Bad Creation Paula, Alba, Juliet, Denis

We showed that female talent could compete

Later B.O.W. Marcela, Slap and Olga

Dancing like the best, we were the bomb

Each event, each battle powerful souls

With strength our time was beautiful

Aerosol nights writing on the walls

With bandanas on the head and big pants

There were not many of us at that time

Invading the sidewalks with our dance

I′m talking about 1994

First big Medellin's gathering of Hip Hop

Where many rap crews rallied

Where my ladies paralyzed da audience

In that same year, sacred

Every weekend the party was fierce

Thrilled hopers and followers were pleased

"Da Hip Hop Place" was always exploiting

So new followers started to arrive

Using expensive clothes pretending to be Hip Hop

Little talent, jealous for fame

Involving guns Hip Hop they degraded

An American phenomenon of corporate greed

Fake gangsters influenced by appearances

Create a stream of divided Hip hop

Many of them their live have lost

1995 with Bianed I was

B.O.W. has became Black or White

Our goal respect for women

In Hip Hop al Parque we were representing

1996 Black or White must grow

Denis, Eliana, Cristina, Sandra, Dayanna, Alejandra and their voices

Female rap has to rise up

They were not afraid to speak up

We were hundreds blooming as a movement

Improving in unit everywhere flowing

Concerts, workshops, forums booming

"Hip Hop Congress" everything growing

Later "Ghetto Boy" with "Colombia Rap Cartel"

The reunion of Emcees that rapped with power

Inspector Fire, Rocky, Allrock, Mocho, XprectalD, Natrix, Javier, Cap, Content. made us stronger

Then with "Alianza N.R.P"

The power of acoustic rap we builded

Writing in partnership

And "Colombian from Neighborhoods" hit

Wisdom came from the Maya

Converting us in Galactic Alliance

The local news became global

The Thirteen Moon cause started

Mother Hip Hop saved me from the streets

Protected me, taught me imagination is key

Clarify your mind, open up your heart

There are many people in this form of art

Some give their best, others fool themselves

What we leave to Hip Hop children, ego or respect?
